About the event
Medication: Friend or Foe? My uncle, my mother's elder brother, whom I didn't get to meet, died in his twenties shortly after WWII from what I now believe to have been typhoid fever. His family then tried different treatments including TCM to no avail. Knowing what I know now, had his parents (i.e. my grandparents) tried Western medical treatment my uncle could have very well survived because typhoid was very treatable with antibiotics. Today parents are inundated with information about medications used for mental illness, both accurate but more often inaccurate and misleading that they feel paralyzed when deciding whether or not to use medications for ailments such as depression. This talk hopes to throw some light on the above difficulties.
