As therapists, we recognize the profound impact of our work on the lives of our clients. However, it's essential to acknowledge the importance of our own well-being and personal growth in facilitating effective therapeutic relationships. With this in mind, we propose the implementation of a "Personal Work for Therapists" program aimed at enhancing self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-responsibility among therapists. The program will be conducted over three days, with each day focusing on different aspects of personal growth and self-awareness. Participants will engage in a variety of activities, including short inputs, discussions, and group dynamics, to facilitate experiential learning and reflection.

Participants will receive a e-Certificate of Completion and CPD points (awaiting LKM Approval)

Delivery Method:

The program delivery will incorporate a combination of short informational sessions and interactive discussions. Each session will begin with a brief input to introduce key concepts, followed by facilitated group discussions and experiential activities to deepen understanding and encourage self-reflection. Group dynamics will play a crucial role in creating a supportive environment for sharing experiences and learning from one another.

Program Objectives:

The primary objectives of the program are as follows:

1. To increase self-awareness and understanding among therapists regarding their personal strengths, weaknesses, triggers, and coping mechanisms.

2. To foster a healthy sense of self-esteem and self-responsibility, enabling therapists to bring their authentic selves into their therapeutic practice and personal lives.

3. To explore the impact of family of origin issues, childhood coping roles, and core aspects of hurt (shame, abandonment, betrayal) on therapists' professional practice.

4. To enhance therapists' communication skills, boundary-setting abilities, and coping strategies for managing stress and emotional challenges.

5. To empower therapists to identify and leverage their strengths effectively in their professional practice and personal lives.

Program Structure:

The "Personal Work for Therapists" program will span three days, each focusing on specific aspects of personal growth and self-awareness. The program will include a combination of interactive workshops, group discussions, experiential exercises, and reflective activities to engage participants fully.

Day 1: Self-Awareness, Self-Esteem, and Self-Responsibility:

· Introduction to the importance of self-awareness in therapeutic practice.

· Exploration of self-esteem and its connection to effective therapy.

· Discussion on self-responsibility and its role in personal and professional development.

· Self-assessment exercises and group discussions to identify personal strengths, weaknesses, and coping mechanisms.

Day 2: Boundaries and Inner Exploration:

· Understanding the significance of boundaries in therapeutic relationships.

· Exploration of childhood coping roles and family of origin issues.

· Experiential exercises and guided meditations to facilitate inner exploration and self-discovery.

· Group discussions and reflections on personal triggers and coping strategies.

Day 3: Coping Mechanisms, Communication Styles, and Leveraging Strengths:

· Exploration of core aspects of hurt (shame, abandonment, betrayal) and their impact on therapy.

· Development of effective communication skills for therapeutic practice.

· Role-playing exercises to practice assertive communication and boundary-setting.

· Identification and leveraging of personal strengths for professional growth and self-care.

Program Conclusion:

The "Personal Work for Therapists" program will provide therapists with valuable insights, tools, and techniques to enhance their personal and professional lives. By investing in their own self-awareness, self-esteem, and self-responsibility, therapists will be better equipped to support the well-being of their clients and maintain healthy therapeutic relationships.
